My Work

Through opportunities within my college career and internship, I have been fortunate to participate in a number of projects relating to Human Resources that have led me to learn more about the field and its technicalities, as well as have the chance to divulge in the creative process to provide new solutions to HR-related problems.

My featured projects can be found below.

Through an Entrepreneurial Experience course, I had the opportunity to collaboratively organize Tabor College's Week of Business nights of guest speakers. 

The goal of this project was to create an entrepreneurial experience that inspired the students of Tabor College to use and seek networks and resources, and ignite their drive to achieve success beyond their college careers.

In this event, I was responsible for the logistics of bringing multiple guest speakers to campus, planning the event and participating in setup and cleanup, working within the means of the donated budget provided by the sponsor of the event, and managing the finances.

During my time as the Treasurer for the Tabor College Student Senate, I had the responsibility of conducting the Student Senate Budget Review. 

The goal of the review was to evaluate the need for and suggest equitable and ethical changes to funding allocation for organizations and clubs within the Student Senate's scope for the consideration of other senate members for voting purposes. 

An audit of both the senate's policies and financial statements concerning the student senate budget, analysis of each line item's spending tendencies within the past past five years and predicted future expenditures, consideration of each club's and organization's expressed concerns and desires, and a presentation of results, findings, and inconsistencies along with informed discussion with the senate members in a final presentation was all personally performed to conduct the Budget Review.

I created addition documents, such as the "Student Senate Funding Attestation Form" and "Split Funding Agreements", to solve reoccurring obstacles involving the senate's funding allocations that were accepted and put into use for future senate use. 

In an Employment Law and Policies course through Tabor College, five classmates and I collaborated on creating a background check policy that was accepted for future use by the institution.

The goal of this project was to provide Tabor College with a resource to encourage a safe working environment and preserve the college's values through informed employment decisions.

The team preformed extensive research on legal, equitable, and reasonable background investigation practices and policies, and met regularly with HR professionals from various institutions for knowledge and critique to create the document.  

Through an internship based on a continuation of an originally partnered project, I independently created material and procedural solutions to increase efficiency and consistency throughout the student hiring process at Tabor College.

The goals of this project were to develop resources and procedures that make it easier for the Tabor Business Office to file and organize important documents pertaining to the student-worker hiring process, as well as to provide a better understanding of correlated documentation and clock-in/out resources for students and introduce them to elements and responsibilities of the workforce. 

Material and procedural solutions were provided to address the comprehensive and organizational issues within the student hiring process. This included, but was not limited to:

As part of my internship at Tabor College, I participated in the revision of the Tabor College Employee Handbook, where I suggested grammatical corrections, comprehensive clarifications, and policies for missing sections.

The goal of this project was to aid the Tabor College CFO in revising and completing the handbook by the designated deadline to present to the Tabor College Board of Directors for finalization.

The specific sections revised in this project dealt with employment contract specifications, employee benefits, and student-employment. 

In attempt to find a balance between financial allowance and ethical practice, along with consideration of Tabor College's warm internal culture, I provided a suggestion for the missing element relating to the education benefits received by an employee's spouse or children in the instance of death or disability of said employee. My suggestion was accepted and used in the final publication.

In my Human Resource Compensation and Benefits course, a classmate and I partnered with a subordinate class within the Tabor College Business Department to create a job description for the Department Chair position on campus. Our final document was accepted for use by the institution.

The goal of this description was to establish the purpose of a Department Chair, clarify duties and responsibilities, and establish the nature and expectations of the position.

Information was gathered from interviews conducted on current Department Chairs at Tabor College by student pairs, including one from my partner and I. All info was given to my my partner and I to be analyzed and compared to find similarities in answers and be transposed into one document to become the final description.
